Quality of Service Department - TRA

 

This year at Comex 2015 the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), has set up a platform devoted to the telecom network quality of service . The TRA aims through this platform to set out its role in monitoring the quality of service by exhibiting the Advanced Automated Quality Measurement System (AAQMS) . This is a specialized system that is used to obtain the technical data required to measure the quality of mobile communications networks.

Domain Name (عمان.) initiative at Comex 2015

 

An initiative was launched on the 28 of April 2015 by the Domain Names Department of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). The initiative involves a one-year free registration for 120 websites under the domain name (عمان .) This initiative is a major step towards encouraging individuals and institutions to use the Arabic domain name as an address for their websites. The TRA will bear the registration cost during the specified year, provided that the registered domain name is used effectively by the beneficiary .

TRA-OMAN @ COMEX2015

 

This year at Comex 2015, which will take place from 27th April to 1st May 2015, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), will set up seven stations that cover companies and telecom services beneficiaries: the first station will highlight the telecom network quality of service . The TRA aims through this platform to set out its role in monitoring the quality of service by exhibiting the Advanced Automated Quality Measurement System.

Price Benchmark Report

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Oman carried out a Price Benchmarking study of retail telecom services with the participation of the Sultan Qaboos University. Strategy Analytics Ltd, an independent consulting firm in the United Kingdom provided the expert inputs to the study. The latest study compared the prices of telecom services in the Sultanate of Oman with those of GCC countries and some selected countries comparable to Oman - Jordan, Tunisia, Malaysia and the UK.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) would like to draw the kind attention of all users of social media applications on their mobile phones or other electronic devices that suspicious and abusive messages were lately observed to have been received by some users on their devices. TRA urges the public not to respond to these messages by any means or disclose any personal information that may be used to their detriment

TRA Hosts the GCC International Roaming Working Group Meeting

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA – OMAN) hosted the 11th GCC International Roaming meeting in Muscat. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) took an important initiative in 2009 to study the dynamics of International Roaming Tariffs and to adopt a suitable strategy to address the issue of high prices from a regional perspective. Accordingly a Working Group of experts from all member states was commissioned to address the issue. The Working Group partly addressed the issue in 2010 by implementing price caps for outgoing roaming calls.TRA Oman being member of the group implemented the recommendations in 2010 for the benefits of the Omani Telecommunications users.

TRA receives HM Award for excellence in e-Gov service to private sector

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) was awarded the Web Award for the Best eGovernment Service Provided to the Private Sector, during the ceremony aimed to present the Sultan Qaboos Awards for Excellence in eGovernment services. This achievement comes as part of the continuous success made by TRA’s Spectrum Management Unit in promoting the quality of e-services offered to radio frequency spectrum users in Oman. The award rewards TRA for prioritizing the e-Government policy of promoting e-Government services in line with the Sultanate’s policies.
