هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات تعلن خطة الزيارات الميدانية للعام 2025
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority
(TRA) has announced its plan to conduct extensive field visits in 2025 as part
of its efforts to improve the quality of telecommunications services in Oman.
The visits will evaluate key performance indicators such as signal
strength, network coverage, data speed, voice call quality,
and the performance
of social media applications.
TRA’s assessment plan includes visits to centres in all governorates,
five major tourist destinations – Jabal al Sharqi (Hat), Al Ashkhara, Harat al
Aqar, Jabal Shams, and Dhofar – as well as 15 key roads such as the Muscat
Expressway, Quriyat-Sur Road, and Nizwa-Ibri Road. Airports in Muscat, Suhar
and Duqm, along with industrial cities in Sur and Ibri, will also be assessed.
Among the parameters to be reviewed are video streaming speed, quality,
and access time for popular applications, data upload/download speeds, voice
call clarity, and 4G/5G signal coverage. The percentage of failed calls will
also be monitored.
Field visits by the TRA have seen a significant rise in recent years,
with a 172% increase recorded in 2024 compared to 2023. A further 197% increase
in such visits is anticipated in 2025.
The results of these assessments will be made public through the TRA’s
social media platforms and its official website, ensuring transparency and
fostering improvements in the telecom sector.
