The Regulation of Physical Security Associated with Telecommunication Networks
Introduction:
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority invites all stakeholders to participate in a public consultation on the Regulation of Physical Security Associated with Telecommunication Networks. This Regulation aims to establish the regulatory and procedural framework for the protection of physical assets and properties belonging to institutions and individuals against various risks that may affect their safety or hinder the continuity of their operations and services.
This Regulation has been prepared based on a comprehensive study conducted by the Regulation Development Team, which included an analysis of the physical security market in the Sultanate of Oman, a review of relevant statistics and benchmarking of international best practices in this field. It also ensures alignment with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law in force in the Sultanate, and examines risks associated with connecting physical security devices to the internet.
This Regulation constitutes a component of the broader security and safety framework designed to ensure the integrity and quality of physical security products and services. It shall be implemented in coordination with the competent authorities, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations in the Sultanate of Oman, in order to achieve the highest standards of physical security and maintain the continuity of critical operations and services.

The Authority will review all received comments and observations; however, the Authority shall not be obliged to adopt all comments received.
