Objectives
The quality accreditation system was designed to achieve a set of objectives represented in the following:
- Safety and non-interference
- Ensure limiting the electromagnetic interference.
- Ensure the use of the frequency spectrum according to the approved spectrum plan.
- Quality and performance
- Obligating the importing companies to use telecommunications devices that comply with the regulations.
- Ensure the telecommunications devices imported to the local market are compatible with the operators’ network.
- Other objectives
- Establishing a national register that contains the devices and technologies available in the Sultanate of Oman.
- Quality accreditation services
- Registering and approving telecommunications devices and equipment.
- Registering telecommunications devices and equipment suppliers in the Sultanate of Oman.
- Importing for the purpose of trial/display.
- Customs release for individual/commercial use.
- Registering the stored radio devices.
- Re-issue the quality approval certificates.
