Assessment Project of Electromagnetic Fields Exposure of Telecom Sites
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority
(TRA) has recently cooperated with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs
and contracted with a global company specializing in measuring emissions of
electromagnetic radiation from telecommunication stations. It aimed to
determine on the licensee's compliance with the standards approved by the TRA
such as the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection
(ICNIRP) guidance and standards.
The project was
carried out by measuring the level of electromagnetic radiation from
telecommunication stations, where 10% of the total stations across the
Sultanate have been measured for each licensee which is equal to 513
stations.
Moreover, the Ministry of Environment and
Climate Affairs has issued Ministerial Decision No. 25/2015 on environmental
regulations and guidelines for establishing, installing or operating base
stations for mobile communications towers and antennas.
