The Telecommunications Regulatory Sector aims to digitally transform the country and build a knowledge-based economy by ensuring the provision of innovative, state-of-the-art and affordable telecommunications services throughout the Sultanate. The Telecommunications Regulatory Sector performs the functions of issuing new licenses, monitoring compliance with license conditions, regular market reviews, monitoring of anti-competitive practices, and approving wholesale agreements and tariffs. The Sector strives to protect consumers’ interests through consumer awareness and efficient complaint handling mechanism. The Sector also sets technical standards, manages National Numbering Plan, allocates domain name addresses, facilitates operators in site acquisition for infrastructure deployment and maintenance of Geographic Information System for telecom sector infrastructure.
