Media Manager

1. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
The job holder is responsible for developing and implementing the TRA media policy and plans. The job holder is responsible for promoting the TRA’s image in Oman locally and internationally, promoting the proper and timely communication of various information of TRA to the consumers, operators, and other related organisations and institutions, and enhance internal communications.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Formulate, review and manage an integrated awareness campaigns, communication plans and department strategy to ensure effective communications to support the development of the telecommunications sector. 

2. Formulate and implement a long-term media and awareness plan and campaigns.
  • Set targets with respect to each awareness and media campaigns launched.
  • Direct and supervise the effective implementation of the outbound awareness campaigns and communications. 
  • Design & form techniques to implement the approved media plan.

3. Manage the following awareness related activities:
  • Prepare various awareness bulletins 
  • Track and follow-up on what is written in newspapers and magazines, local, Arab and international about the telecommunications sector in Oman and announcements and broadcast made through radio and television, in additional to arranging meetings with the media on different occasions. 
  • Circulating all relevant and useful articles, pamphlets, and papers relating to the various TRA units on the telecommunications sector with the aim to raise knowledge and awareness on new developments. 
  • Make necessary arrangements and actions for the dissemination of data and statements and declarations to be published in the media. 
  • Prepare programs and information on consumer affairs, including the preparation of awareness films of audio and video containing various TRA activities. 
  • Participate in the reception and escort and bid farewell to the official delegations, visitors, and implementation of procedures and programs of residence within the Sultanate of Oman 
  • Take necessary actions to organize seminars and meetings between the press, media and senior officials at the Board level regarding the regulations of the telecommunications sector. 
  • Oversee the development of awareness program and familiarize consumer with regulatory role of TRA through lectures, pamphlets and brochures. 

4. Oversee the management of all TRA events and, Regional and international meetings and conferences hosted by the TRA.
  • Estimating the event budget.
  • Establishing the task plan
  • Follow up with execution
5. Oversee & facilitate the participation of TRA in national events and exhibitions.
6. Manage TRA websites development and activities.
7. Oversee all TRA media materials including videos, poster,  interviews and press releases
8. Enhance collaborative working relationships within the press and publicity community.
 

Managerial and Supervisory
1. Develop and manage the Department’s work plan objectives and KPIs, with respect to the Unit’s work plan and TRA Vision, Mission and Objectives. 
  • Cascade the Unit and Department’s work plan, objectives and KPIs to the staff 
  • Ensure periodic review and submission of progress to the higher management 

2. Oversees and ensures that the work process and operating procedures are reviewed and revised regularly to ensure effectiveness and efficiency to keep pace with changes in the TRA and telecommunications markets’ development.

3. Develop and manage the staff 
  • Participate in the recruitment and induction  of direct reporting staff
  • Monitor and ensure that professional and personal development of direct reporting staff are progressing in tandem with their career development
  • Monitor, appraise and manage direct staff performance
  • Administer the staff HR admin e.g. approval of leave, etc.
