Public Consultation on Regulating Children’s Use of Social Media Platforms
Overview of the Consultation :
Recognizing the importance of protecting children in the digital environment, and in line with international trends toward adopting stricter measures to regulate children’s access to social media platforms, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority launches this public consultation to gather the views of stakeholders on the key regulatory, legal, and technical challenges related to this issue. The consultation also seeks to explore the most appropriate and feasible options to ensure effective and balanced protection for children online.
The Telecommunication regulatory Authority invites stakeholders and all interested parties to participate in the consultation and share their views and feedback on the subject.
Objectives of the Consultation :
- Identifying the most prominent key regulatory and legal challenges associated with protecting children in the digital environment.
- Examine potential technical solutions and mechanisms for age verification to help limit children’s access to inappropriate content.
- Gather stakeholder views and insights that may inform the development of clear, practical, and enforceable regulatory measures.
Deadline for Submissions:
Responses and comments on this consultation document may be submitted via the electronic questionnaire at the link below by no later than (15th April 2026). The Authority will review all responses and views received.
