The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has published the Market Indicators Report for the telecom and postal sectors covering the period (2020–2024). Among the key highlights of the report are total telecom sector revenues exceeding OMR 4.11 billion, total investments amounting to OMR 1.2 billion, and mobile subscriptions reaching 6.354 million. The report also recorded total revenues from domestic and international postal services of OMR 110 million, with total domestic and international postal items reaching 22.4 million.

Over the five-year period, 5G base stations witnessed a growth rate of 957%, increasing from 554 stations in 2020 to 5,856 stations in 2024. Meanwhile, total fiber-optic subscriptions rose from 161,119 subscriptions in 2020 to 327,015 subscriptions in 2024, reflecting a growth rate of 103%.

As part of efforts to enhance the quality of telecom services in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, the telecom sector conducted a field visit to the zone to meet with officials and review telecom service development plans. The visit also addressed key challenges, assessed the current status of the telecom and postal sectors, explored promising investment opportunities, and examined prospects for advancing the region’s digital infrastructure and future technologies.

The meeting comes in support of the zone’s strategic direction to strengthen the telecom sector and foster an investment-friendly environment, contributing to economic development and improving the efficiency of essential infrastructure.
